I really enjoyed to visit the Museum in the Hokkaido University.

The Campus is in the north-west of the City Centre.

Now, there are some special displays of dinasaurs from Mongolia!!

I really enjoyed "Basketball Dream Museum in Takikawa".

http://www.msknet.ne.jp/tiea/bdm/index2.html

Takikawa's sister city of Springfield, MASS. USA is the birthplace of Basketball.

Inside the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame resides the history of Basketball, along with the 263 individuals like Magic Johnson and Larry Bira, and 5 teams whose feats are honored by a vast exhibit of memorabilia.

This Basketball Dream Museum, held in Takikawa, Japan is the first time Basketball Hall of Fame articles are to be displayed outside the US.

#1-#2 There are displays about NBA Teams in city's main street. I am happy to see something about the Golden State Warriors!!

#3 The gate of Exhibition place...

#4-#12 The past and today's famous players jerseys and shoes.

"Spirits of Sea" bring happiness...

According to Shinto idea, everything around people -sky, sea, fire, air, land, house, food...Everything!!- have their own "spiritual matter" and they bring people something nice, then people have to thank them... That is why, Shinto Shrain make some festivals... Usualy, shrains make the biggest one once in a year. The "spiritual matters" are called "KAMI" or "KAMI-GAMI"...

Wakkanai city's largest Shinto Shraine is "Hokumon-Jinjya" and the Shrains Festival is from 4th to 6th of July.

In the Festival, people bring "O-MIKOSHI" or the wagon for "KAMI-GAMI" and make parade. That parade means... People invite "KAMI-GAMI" and say thank them and pray that they bring more happiness...

At Wakkanai, there is such kind of parade in the city or on the roads... In addition!! There is a parade on the sea!! People bring "O-MIKOSHI" on fishery boat and call that "GO-ZA=BUNE" or the boat for "KAMI-GAMI". And many boat join the paarade with the boat's cerebration flags when the catch is very rich... People pray safety for fishery or works on the sea and rich catch...

Wakkanai is on the sea side and a town of fishermans. That is why there is this kind of tradition. It seems very interesting!!

#1,2,8="O-MIKOSHI" on a boat...
#3=Shrain masters on borad...
#4=The relatives from Fishery Unions or transport companies join the ceremony...
#5,6,7=The parade...
